A betting unit is the base amount the player chooses before play begins. For example, if the unit is $5, then 1 unit is $5, 2 units is $10, and 3 units is $15.
The Playing Decision Trainer moves beyond counting and betting. It asks how the Hann Count may affect hit, stand, double, and split decisions.
Basic strategy comes first. The count should not replace basic blackjack strategy. It should only adjust close decisions when the remaining deck has shifted enough to make a different play reasonable.

Basic strategy is based on the average deck. The Hann Count asks whether the deck in front of you is no longer average.
A negative Hann count means more 3s through 7s remain. That can make some dealer up-cards less weak than they look, because low and middle cards can help the dealer draw safely instead of busting. Those same cards can also help the player improve a stiff hand without immediately busting.
For example, with a very negative count such as -5, a hand like player 12 vs dealer 2 may become more reasonable to hit than it would be in a neutral or positive deck. The low-card-rich deck may help the player draw safely, while also reducing the dealer's expected bust pressure.
A positive Hann count means more 9s and ten-value cards remain. That can make hitting stiff hands more dangerous, make standing stronger in some close spots, and make certain doubles more attractive.
Important: the current Playing Decision Trainer uses Hann-guided practice decisions and reconstructed index-style rules. It is meant to train the logic of count-based play while we continue refining the exact Hann index chart.
A running count does not mean the same thing in every game. A Hann count of +4 in a single-deck game is much stronger than +4 in a six-deck shoe. The Playing Decision Trainer therefore includes a Game Type setting so the decision logic can account for the number of decks being used.
In Simple Mode, the trainer divides the running count by the game type. For example, +4 in a double-deck game is treated like an effective count of +2. This is easier and closer to how many players first learn to apply the count.
In Advanced Mode, the trainer also shows decks remaining. This is more accurate because a +4 count with one deck remaining is stronger than a +4 count with four decks remaining. Advanced Mode is harder, but it trains the more precise version of count-based playing decisions.
The Insurance Trainer focuses on one specific blackjack decision: whether to take insurance when the dealer shows an Ace.
Insurance is usually a bad bet. You are betting that the dealer's hidden card is a 10-value card. In an average deck, there usually are not enough 10-value cards remaining to make insurance profitable.
The Hann Count changes the question. A strongly positive Hann count means more 3s through 7s have already left, so the remaining deck is richer in 9s and ten-value cards. That makes a dealer blackjack more likely and makes insurance more attractive.
In Simple Mode, the trainer uses the game type as the divisor. A running count of +4 in a double-deck game is treated like an effective count of +2.
In Advanced Mode, the trainer shows decks remaining and uses that number instead. A running count of +4 with 1 deck remaining is stronger than +4 with 4 decks remaining.
This trainer uses a simple Hann-guided insurance threshold: take insurance when the effective count is about +4 or higher. Below that, decline insurance.
This is an educational practice rule while we continue refining the exact Hann index chart. The important training goal is to learn that insurance is not a hunch or a feeling. It is a count-based decision.
The Table Count Simulator is the bridge between count drills and real blackjack table practice. Cards are dealt around a table layout, and your job is to keep the Hann Count as visible cards appear.
First, the simulator deals the initial round: each player receives two cards, the dealer receives one up card, and the dealer hole card remains face down. You enter the running count after the initial deal.
After that, you can continue the round. The simulator now pauses for simple playing decisions at each player hand. Choose Hit, Stand, Double, or Split, then the table continues.
The first version of table decisions uses the Playing Decision Trainer ideas plus simplified basic strategy. Hit and Double draw one visible card, Stand moves on, and Split is recorded as a correct decision before the simple round flow continues.
After all player decisions, the simulator reveals the dealer hole card and draws dealer cards according to normal dealer behavior. At the end, you enter the final running count.
After the final count is checked, the simulator asks for the correct next bet. This connects table rhythm, playing decisions, and the Hann betting method.
In continuous shoe mode, the simulator does not reset after each round. The shoe, cards remaining, and running count carry forward from round to round until the cut-card point is reached or you choose to start a new shoe. This is closer to real casino practice, where the count only matters because it persists across hands.

The dealer hole card is not counted while it is face down. Once it is revealed during the dealer's turn, it becomes visible and is counted. This is important because real blackjack counting only includes cards you have actually seen.
For the betting step, the simulator uses the same Hann rule as the Betting Trainer: effective count below +2 stays at 1 unit; +2 means 2 units; +3 means 3 units; +4 means 4 units; and +5 or higher is capped as 5+ units.
The Cheat button is a learning aid. During playing decisions, it reveals the current count, recommended action, and recommended next bet. During the betting step, it reveals the current count, effective count, and recommended bet so you can check the logic without leaving the table simulator.
Use Deal Next Round after checking the next bet to continue from the same shoe. Use Start New Shoe only when you want to reset the shoe and return the running count to zero.
